Baby Bear Tips

General Tips

  • Shampooing regularly will help prevent cradle cap.
  • The following tips will prevent tears while washing baby's hair:
    • Fill a container with water , have child look up, then pour over child's head
    • Fold a washcloth & place over baby's eyes
    • Use handheld shower sprayer and have child look up
  • Water bottles or a wet comb are great ways to control baby's hair.
  • Do not cut cowlicks; don't fight them; as hair gets longer they get easier to manage.
  • If you need to trim hair out of baby's eyes before the "first" haircut, wet hair; this will make it easier for you.
  • Remember hair shrinks when it dries, so leave bangs longer than you think they should be.
  • Only trim what you need to. Leave the rest for that special first Baby Locks cut.
  • Hats are great to protect your baby's head from the sun.
  • Barrettes or soft bands are excellent to keep hair out of eyes for girls.

Tips for Infants Hair

  • Hair or no hair; shampoo with mild baby shampoo.
  • Rinse - it's easier to use a wash cloth to wipe out shampoo and squeeze water over a baby's head while holding head back.
  • Use a little baby lotion and work through hair..
  • Comb or brush with soft brush to style.

Tips for Toddlers Hair

  • Shampoo with mild shampoo.
  • Condition and rinse out...
    • Thick & Curly - Moisturizing Conditioner
    • Fine or Thin - Light Conditioner
  • Spray leave-in conditioners are great for all hair types to help with those unwanted tangles (conditioners also help eliminate flyaway hair and static)
  • Comb or brush hair and style.
